We are in a really excellent location for all the things that matter to us. We have the desert right here, the Strip about 12 miles away - so great food and shows, etc.
The shot here is interesting as a night shot of the new neighborhood - and at some point in the near future, construction will have taken the spot this picture was taken and built on. It will be interesting to document the construction and the changes in views because of the finishing of this "Master Planned" community. When complete, this desert will be a neighborhood sandwiched between a National Conservation area and a Town Center - with the Strip being just a quick hop up the Interstate.
Modified? Yes. One more than the other. But sometimes the ordinary shots - when manipulated - can make interesting images. You decide.
Tuesday I will be heading out on the motorcycle. The trip's aim are several: time for me to be in my head without any outside (or minimal at least) distractions; do an extended road trip on the Vulcan with the only caveat being no Interstates; and as I discover parts of the vast country I have yet to experience, meet interesting people and hopefully capture more iconic images. So, before heading out, I wanted to do a search in the 5 Points area of Jacksonville and see if I find anything interesting. I took a few photos and here are two I wanted to share.
Heading to Henderson, NV, we stopped in Atlanta, GA to celebrate my wife finishing her M.F.A. We have friends here and two of her classmates came into town to help us celebrate. There are other pictures taken here in Atlanta on the site, but I am using the Journal section here to share (what I consider) iconic images captured as we travel. I went out tonight and saw a potential 'keeper' and stopped after capturing this one image. Usually I attempt to capture at least several images, but tonight I felt very comfortable after capturing this one.
Whenever I take my camera(s) out to look for images to capture, I am never certain that I will actually get any 'good' ones. I have rolls of film to develop, and will add any from those if they rate it. For now, these four are ones I find interesting.
These next three are shot with the Lensbaby Velvet 56. The first two look 'normal' and I really like them, but I particularly enjoy the bokeh effect of the bottom image.
For Spring Break, we decided to head out west to LA. 1st night's stop was in San Antonio, Texas. We usually travel with our two dogs, so finding rooms for the night can be challenging. This trip was no exception. No hotel in the vicinity of San Antonio (that allowed pets) had any rooms available - except for the Drury Plaza Hotel on the Riverwalk. We arrived late, but I ran out with the Lumix GX8, hoping to get some good shots. These are all on the same block as the hotel.
I was asked to lead a discussion on Innovative Approaches to Learning and Learning Environments at the 11th International Conference on e-Learning & Innovative Pedagogies held at St. John's University this month. I took the opportunity while in NYC to see if I could capture any 'good' street scenes. Below are a few I find interesting...
If you enjoy these images but do not wish to purchase a limited edition print, kipinkart.com has some of these images on accessories like laptop sleeves, coffee mugs, hi-top sneakers, pillows, totes, etc.
